This course was created for those who wish to learn beyond the automatic configuration of their camera and take creative photos.

In this five-day course, you will be covered with a basic course on how to control photo exposure, including shutter speed, compositing tools to capture images of the world the way you see it.

Each week, you will be focused on a theme about camera control and you will receive a photographic activity to be carried out based on the information applied in class and which will be analyzed together in the next class.

How will it be?

Course Schedule

DAY 01

We will begin the course with a brief introduction and guidance for the anatomy of a camera. The basic composition and control of the camera will be discussed and the first project will be assigned.

DAY 02

In this class, the basic concepts of shutter speed control will be addressed and a second project using the creative features of shutter control will be assigned.

 

DAY 03

This week, the basics of aperture control will be covered and a third project using aperture and depth of field control will be designated.

DAY 04

Students will learn how to control the light meter and use exposure compensation for creative control of their images. A final task will be given.

DAY 05

On the last day, all the content of the course applied so far and how to store, upload and print your images will be reviewed.

Can I use my Smartphone?

Necessary materials

DSLR, mirrorless camera, compact camera, point and shoot or iPhone / Android (with an application that allows manual control. If you don't have one, it can be recommended).

Access to a computer with image sharing software (for example, Apple Photos, Microsoft Picture Manager, Lightroom, etc.).

To participate in one of our virtual classes, you'll need:

  • A computer (laptop or desktop, with built-in microphone and camera) or a newer model of iPad, tablet, iPhone or smartphone;
  • Make sure you have the handsfree feature using a stand or tripod;
  • A stable WI-FI connection;
  • The Zoom app (free when you sign up);
  • Materials required according to the course you have enrolled in (see the individual material lists provided for each class, as described above);
  • A quiet workspace to create and join your class.
